Weight Loss is the area of nutrition is a sub-specialty of chiropractic that I have enjoyed studying for many years. The way to approach weight loss should not be by doing brutal workouts and low-fat diets - It's the opposite!
When we stop for a moment and look at our attitudes towards "getting ahead" in our culture, it's insane. However, taking that same approach to wellness might help us not only get healthy faster, but more importantly, stay healthy. Our obesity rate is soaring, and ignoring wellness could invite diabetes or at least metabolic syndrome over time.
Q: How much of weight loss is dieting?
A: The answer to weight loss is not a low fat diet (as we've been duped into believing). Its about an opportunity to revert back to a traditional diet of garden fresh vegetables and meat from healthy animals in reasonable portions and away from processed foods. Remember, eating well is not about dieting.
Working with nutrition is about finding what needs to be changed first and what whole food supplements or herbs may be needed first. The shift towards an idyllic diet takes time. Some longer than others - It took me personally, about 5 years. That is how we change. With each change we make, we take a step towards a new you- Free of sickness, happy and vibrant. My role is to guide that process.
Q: Will the weight come off?
A: Absolutely! Quickly? Not likely. But it will be you- not some contrived die-it. And yes exercise is important- but not with the intensity of some of the new programs out there.
